18/09/2015 Temp fence, Portaloo and Scott Cams face all gone....

The temp fence is down and we are looking like a proper house. Looking to get keys in the next week and a half. Retaining wall on the right will commence later this week. Our neighbour has been advised he doesn't need one (even though the drop is about 1m) We won't get an occupancy cert without building one so we will have to place within our land only and bear the cost but at least we can get on with it now and stop waiting around. Not long to go now !

17/09/2015 Taps/flyscreens & screen door

sorry no pics house is all closed up.

10/09/2015 PCI dates !

Well we got a date for PCI - 22nd September with the keys looking to be handed over a week later . Very exciting and lots of things can be booked in now.

will post some more pics when I next get in. House is always locked and no tradies to let me in.

Looks like only taps, shower screens and splashbacks still to be installed and then appliances and we are done.

it's been a long journey, a year now since we first bought this land, but not too far to go now.

05/09/2015 columns painted

Outdoor painting might be finished now . not 100% sure.

Inside still have shelving to complete in pantry/ linen and wardrobes, shower screens and kitchen splashback. also the plumber still has some taps to on the vanities and the window servicing. that's all I can.... then house needs a super clean its pretty disgusting in there, am itching to just do it myself.....

this grey is nowhere near as dark as I thought .not loving it, might repaint later if it annoys me that much.

On the weekend we got a lounge for home theatre sorted, will take 9 weeks......new tv, and a front loader washer to go under (future)  laundry bench. This week I need to sort out shutters and curtains.

02/09/2015 Plumbing

this morning I purchased the tiles. here is a pic. I think I got a bargain. thankfully I no longer have to drive around with the samples of these huge tiles smashing around in my car boot . Originally were going with the one on the left but it was too dark when placed in the house. Also purchased the carpet on the weekend. Got a Charcoal colour.

Plumber........well bathrooms are mostly in. Just waiting for shower screens and the taps.  These are pretty much the standard bathrooms so far and look pretty good. wish we had gone for a freestanding bath in hindsight. The only things we upgraded were the shower screens to semi frameless and the tiles which are standard range (super matt white ) but they do cost extra to lay due to the shape. about $500 extra from memory.

01/09/2015 Electricals

lights  and power points installed today. These will all come back out after handover and be replaced with loads of downlights

31/08/2015 walk thru

walked through the house today to measure up with some work we will get done after handover. measured up the laundry...we will rip out the tub and install stone benches with under mount sink and cupboards.....have a huge linen cupboard and broom cupboard in there so wont need too much in the way of storage. wardrobe measured up also to get fitted out after handover. My brother who is a carpenter was a bit shocked at the state of the place, mud, dust and rubbish throughout the inside, was surprised they would paint a house with so much crap around.... I just want to get in there and clean it all up..... The only updates I can see are the cutlery drawer has been put in. will visit Hettich and replace this later on.

Our tiler came to have a look at the floors and see how even they are. Said we have no choice but to stick down now that the skirting is down. That's what mac jones would have done anyway had we purchased flooring through them. Saves a couple of days we are happy to do that.

Supervisor mentioned electrician tomorrow and plumber the day after and benches should be installed this week too.

painting not finished outside but here is what the Moroka paint looks like. I don't like they grey but can always redo later or see if it grows on us ....
